Blackberry Pie Filling
Blackberry pie is pie composed of blackberry filling, usually in the form of either blackberry jam, actual blackberries themselves, or some combination thereof. Blackberry pie is quite tart requiring far more sugar than blueberry pie. Blackberries can be stewed or soaked in water prior to baking to prevent burning, a concern not present in preparing blueberry pie.
Ingredients:
- 3 ½ cups of blackberries
- 2 cups of Sugar
- 3 tablespoons of Cornstarch
Preparation:
- To prepare the blackberry pie filling recipe, you can either pick the berries from the wild, which will be a lot more exciting or you can just go to your local store and buy some frozen berries as well.
- Wash berries well under running water and place then in a stainless steel pot. Add some water and sugar and set to simmer.
- Meanwhile, mix the cornstarch in some cold water till it dissolves completely.
- Keep stirring the berry mixture to prevent it from sticking to the bottom, make sure that the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add the cornstarch and simmer for up to an hour to 2 hours.
